Cooler Weather

Monday, September 21st, 2009

The weather has finally switched from hot summer days to a cooler autumn weather. The temperatures are expected to be in the 60′s today. What a nice change! I’m sure all the trees will start turning to their fall colors very soon. That is a beautiful scene here in Tennessee.

Chili Mac

Friday, September 18th, 2009

I don’t remember my mother ever cooking chili for us when we were growing up. I don’t think /I even tasted chili until I had been married for a year or so and my mother inlaw make a venison chili. Of course, I loved it. That woman could cook a huge variety of different meals and they were always delicious.

But it was my second husband who introduced me to chili mac. This was a dish that he grew up with and loved to make himself. It combines chili with macaroni noodles and cheddar cheese. It may sound horrible, but trust me – it’s delicious!

Prayer

No Tomatoes

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

The saddest part of my summer was the loss of all my garden vegetables. They all fell victim to a blight that was spread by wholesale nurseries who shipped their infected plants to major retailers all over the East Coast. My tomato plants were infected, and their disease spread to my pepper plants and even my pumpkins. Everything in my garden was a loss – that was so discouraging. all that money, time and effort were wasted this year.
