Here is My Claim

My sweet young niece, Haley, tells me that I am remiss in not having a Technorati account. So I opened one today and I need to show them this code in a post so I can claim my blog. That sounds easy enough.

I guess I will learn more about why this is important as I go along with the claim.

Snobs at AT&T

My cell phone is with AT&T and although the service is OK, the phone itself is not working right anymore. It never rings when people call. The friends tell me that they hear it ringing and then after 4 rings it goes to voice mail. But when I have the phone right next to me on the desk I do not hear it ring. The settings are all set to loud and all that – there is something wrong with the phone.

So I stopped by the AT&T retail store near my house. Well, it isn’t really near my house but it was the closest one that I knew about and I had to go over to that part of town anyway. So I walked in and asked to see some of the new phones to replace my old phone. The clerk told me that all the phones in the store are too expensive for me, even though I never asked the price or mentioned being concerned about price. He evidently just decided that I cannot afford a new phone. And then he left me standing there while he waited on the next customer.

I didn’t realize that I looked like a broke down homeless person today. I mean, WTF? I can afford any damn phone I want and I really don’t think it is up to some smart aleck phone store clerk to deny me a new phone.

Looking for Shade

Today is the third day in a row that the temperatures have exceeded 90 degrees. And summer is still 9 days away before it is official!

The yard swing that I bought has a nice canopy to help keep the sun and tree debris from soiling the cushions. It helps make shade and so does the swing itself. I discovered that the rabbits appreciate the shade, too, when I found one sitting under my swing this afternoon. He sat there under my swing and watched me move about the yard tending to the plants and flowers, and he never hopped away.

Iced Coffee

We stopped at Starbucks last night and enjoyed Frappacinos. They have a patio and it was a lovely night and we sat outside chatting for almost 2 hours. It bothers me a little that the drink cost almost $5. It had about a quarter cup of coffee and a half cup of whole milk and lots of ice cubes. That’s not much product for $5.

I think I will start making the iced coffees at home. I think it would cost me about forty cents – tops – to make it myself.
