Lunch With Suzi

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

A few years ago, a group of us ladies decided to get together once a month and have lunch together at a local restaurant. We want to make the effort to be sociable with each other but we also want to support the little local businesses, too. So our once a month lunch will be tomorrow and I’m especially looking forward to seeing my friend Suzi Strauss again.

Suzi moved away two years ago when her husband got a transfer to Chicago. They couldn’t sell their house because the market had started to tank, so they rented it out to a young couple.

Well, its a good thing they didn’t sell it, because her husband got laid off last month and now they’ve moved back here. I wish it was happier circumstances that brought them back to Nashville, but it will be good to see my old friend again regardless.

Hey Deanna!

One of the girls in our bowling league is a sweet young thing, Deanna Carpenter. She brings her young son to the bowling alley every once in a while, probably when she has an issue finding child care. He is in the second grade and is a very well behaved young man! I just wanted to mention how much I appreciate the young mothers like Deanna who takes good manners very seriously and make an effort to raise their children well.

Old Tee Shirts

Friday, October 9th, 2009

A friend has a big stack of old rock and roll tee shirts. You can only wear so many shirts. And the collection continues to grow. So he asked me if there was any way I could take the shirts and make them into a quilt. I think that is a very cool idea. I’ll give it some thought. I might have a new hobby around the corner!

Iced Coffee

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

We stopped at Starbucks last night and enjoyed Frappacinos. They have a patio and it was a lovely night and we sat outside chatting for almost 2 hours. It bothers me a little that the drink cost almost $5. It had about a quarter cup of coffee and a half cup of whole milk and lots of ice cubes. That’s not much product for $5.

I think I will start making the iced coffees at home. I think it would cost me about forty cents – tops – to make it myself.
